Join scheme

Our scheme is open to any tenant or prospective tenant able to meet our joining criteria set out below. There is a non-refundable application fee of £50 plus VAT. Once accepted into the scheme you will be given a unique membership number which you can use to access or allow others to access your details (to see an example of how these will appear, click here).

As a member you will pay a monthly subscription of £5 plus VAT which will entitle you to offer landlords a guarantee (see sample guarantee) and contents and legal insurance cover (see sample policy) – provided that if you are a joint tenant (and the other tenant is not your husband or wife) both or all joint tenants will have to be members of the Tenant Guarantee Scheme before and guarantee or insurance cover can be put in place.

Guarantees and insurance cover last a maximum of six months – the length of most assured shorthold tenancies) after which members can renew their cover at reduced rates. If you know your tenancy will be for one year, you can apply for one year cover from the outset.

The cost of membership is as follows:

6 months membership

Renewal of cover: £40 exc VAT
Renewal of cover for additional joint tenants: £15.00 exc VAT

12 month membership
Application fee: £82.00 exc VAT
Additional joint tenants application fee: £32.00 exc VAT
Monthly subscription £5.00 exc VAT

If you are a student or do not meet our membership criteria you will need a guarantor to be able to join the Tenant Guarantee scheme. This being the case please ask your guarantor to complete our guarantor application form.

All payments are taken by credit card. The application and renewal fees will be paid to Letcare Ltd (Insure24) and the monthly membership subscription to the Tenant Guarantee Scheme via Write Now Publications Limited.

Declaration

I confirm that to the best of my knowledge and belief the above details are true and correct at time of completion and hereby authorise the Tenant Guarantee Scheme and its agents to make whatever further enquiries and credit checks its deems necessary to confirm my identity and good standing.

I agree that my membership details, to the extent indicated by the example found here, can be accessed via the website www.iguarantee.co.uk and thereby made available to anybody entering my unique Tenant Guarantee Scheme membership number. Information held about myself and needed for identification purposes may also be emailed or otherwise disclosed to a landlord or prospective landlord who is able to quote my unique Tenant Guarantee Scheme membership number and Passport or Driving Licence number.

Further I agree to inform the Tenant Agreement Scheme immediately of any change in my personal circumstances affecting any rental tenancy and my ability to meet my rental commitments on time, and any change or address or tenancy.

I understand that I can request the names of any credit reference agencies used by the scheme to verify the information held about myself, but also that should I default on any tenancy agreement I enter into with a landlord who relies on a guarantee issued by the Tenant Guarantee Scheme in my name, or fail to make good damage to a property or its contents during a tenancy registered to me (other than fair wear and tear) that my membership of the Tenant Guarantee Scheme will be cancelled and the information contained in this application may be released to authorised credit recovery agencies.

Further I understand that I may leave the Tenant Guarantee Scheme at the expiry of a tenancy registered to me under the scheme or, where no tenancy is currently registered, on giving three month’s notice and that monthly subscriptions to the scheme remain payable until the expiry of my membership. Should I not pay a monthly subscription within two weeks of the due date, or should my Tenant Guarantee Scheme membership be cancelled for whatever reason, subscriptions will remain payable until the expiry of any tenancy registered to me under the scheme.

I hereby assign all benefits under the rental guarantee and insurance cover afforded by membership of this scheme to the person or persons who at the time to which any claim relates was my registered landlord under the terms of this scheme.
